Executive Member Resigns
Livia Oldland has changed roles
within the Independent Network, from Executive Member to the organisation’s
first full-time Researcher. Livia started her new position last week and will be
coordinating the Independent Network’s future activities. She aims to raise
the national profile of
UK
independent candidates and help everyday people stand as Independents.
Livia says, ‘The Executive and
the Secretariat have done some fantastic work, such as amending the Bell
Principles and setting up the process for endorsing Independent prospective
candidates. I’ll be continuing their work and will be kept very busy, my
immediate tasks are to form partnerships with relevant organisations, creating
resources and setting up a new interactive website for independent
candidates’.
Livia is keen to promote
Independents, ‘Only 1.5% of the population are members of political parties. I
want to persuade floating voters to identify themselves as Independent’.
Livia previously worked for East
Herts People, a local campaign organisation that supports Independent candidates
in local elections in
East Hertfordshire
. She has also been an intern for Save the Children and the Liberal Democrats.
She graduated with a BA in Theology from
Leeds
University
in 2008.
The Independent Network’s
executive are Steven (Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Hexham) and Daisy
Ford, Neville Watson and Jim Thornton (East Herts People).
